The next step of human spaceflight is here. SpaceX just revealed their second version of the Dragon spacecraft. The vehicle is a “big leap forward in technology” as Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, describes this huge update.
There are several impressive aspects about the Dragon V2.
The reusability is pushed to new limits, because this craft can “land anywhere on earth with accuracy of helicopter”. And the animated video shows right that by a landing in the middle of civilization and not somewhere in the Kazakhstani desert or an ocean.
Additionally there is room for seven passeneger on board, which is an impressive number for the size of the vehicle. And the interior is so minimal, it just looks awesome. Completely uncluttered walls, 7 carbon seats and an hinged control panel with big touchscreens, some manual buttons for emergency situations and a joystick.
This is really a glimpse in the future of spaceflight to the ISS. And it’s not that far of, Elon Musik says the vessel will be ready in 2016.

BTW: Elon Musik is a fuckin genius with all the stuff he founded and envisioned. But his ability to speak in front of a big group of people is always surprising. In an private interview he is totally calm and well-spoken, but as soon there is a bigger group he gets insecure.
