This lovely documentary is about the Union Glacier Camp, which is operated by a private company providing expedition support and tours to the interior of Antarctica. The camp consists of a small multinational team, some tents and many vehicles. It’s about the everyday life in this extreme and remote place.
I like the cinematography and visual style of this documentary, which is reminiscent of the Wes Anderson movies.

I guess everybody has heard of the experiment with the bowling ball and feather falling at the same speed, if the surrounding is a vacuum. It is an easy example to illustrate the air drag on objects and the resulting behaviour in our regular environment. But when the air is missing there is only one force at work, which is gravity with a constant acceleration of 9.81 m/s².

The BBC went to the world’s largest thermal vacuum chamber operated by NASA. They conducted the experiment from a serious height and the result is absolutely astonishing. It is unbelievable how motionless these two objects are resting in the air vacuum while falling.

The guys from FliteTest are doing all kind of crazy stuff with drones, RC planes and helicopters.
In their newest project they put a drone on a drone on a drone on a drone to deliver a stick of gum. Besides the cameras on all delivery drones, they use a fifth drone just dedicated to film the action from another perspective.

This is a unique view at the IS or previously known as ISIS. VICE News is following some hardline Sunni jihadist in Syria, where the Islamic State has been partly established, followed by the capture of northern Iraq.
There are so many aspects in this video showing the shocking reality in this region; the cruelty, the brainwashing of the youth, the hatred against almost everyone els and the complete absence of women, just to name a few.

I highly recommend to subscribe to the VICE News YouTube channel. They have such a big output of high quality news and documentaries.

This project is about recovering sound by filming an object with a high speed camera. I’ve never heard about it, but the results are stunning. Especially in combination with Shazam.
To top it all off, they even proposed a algorithm for the use of a normal consumer camera with a lower framerate of 60 fps.
But if you develop this idea further, it gets scary.
